Chair:
Louisa Egbunike
Louisa's passion for supporting grassroots initiatives in African brought
her to Stand Up For Africa in 2007. Her recent visit to Nigeria was
instrumental in establishing a partnership with Heart of Gold Children's
Hospice. Louisa, who previously worked for Comic Relief, has just completed
an MA in African Studies and has embarked on a PhD in African Literature
at SOAS..
Treasurer: George Kwame Defor
Having gained an MSc in Accounting with Finance and chartered certified
accountant qualifications, George brings his broad wealth of knowledge
in business operations and strong financial acumen to the SUFA team.
Originally from Ghana, George lives in London.

Secretary: Lulu Kitololo
Lulu has a BFA in Communications Design and an MA in African Studies. She has worked as an art director in the advertising, design and publishing sectors, and with a range of clients including governments, multinational corporations, NGOs, SMEs and individuals. Now working as an independent communications consultant, Lulu brings a variety of skills and experience to SUFA. She is particularly interested in the organisational capacities of grassroots civil society groups, and in exploiting the potential of culture and the arts for education, empowerment and development. She brings her passion for African-initiated African development to SUFA.
Anita Amentor
Anita has a great love for African politics and culture and as a young girl born to Ghanaian parents in London has always wanted to see Africa shine. Currently working in the retail banking industry, Anita has a wide variety of experience under her belt: from working in the public sector, to the young offending services. Passionate about reaching out to and exchanging with other, and with a BA in Politics and International Relations, Anita and SUFA are an obvious match.
Francesca
O. Arhin
Francesca holds an undergraduate degree in Politics, a Masters in International
Relations and a PGCE in Citizenship. She has worked with not-for-profits
for over 10 years, and has considerable experience of working with and
in the community
Isabelle
Delatour
Haitian-American Isabelle has been an active SUFA supporter since The
Make Poverty History Campaign in 2005. Isabelle is particularly passionate
about the agency of youth in the development process. She is currently
helping with managing the SUFA skills exchange program which promotes
mutually beneficial knowledge transfer between the North and the South.
In the past, she has worked for the Instituto Cultural Brasil Estados
Unidos in Brazil and for Shika a UK based educational charity. Isabelle
who recently joined the board of trustees, is currently completing an
MSc in Development Studies at The School of Oriental and African Studies.
Neil
Howard
One of SUFA’s earliest volunteers, as a Trustee Neil has responsibility for
our Benin and Uganda
programs, having spent time in both countries working with our partners.
Neil is currently expanding the research he began with SUFA on Child
Trafficking in Benin as part of his PhD in Development Studies at University
of Oxford.

Elsie
Nemlin: Executive Director
Elsie is from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). An insurance graduate turned fashion model (for a short while), she worked for Oxfam GB before founding SUFA in August 2003. A woman of passion and conviction, she has dedicated herself to working for people living in poverty in Africa. Elsie is a ‘people person’; gifted with an exceptional talent for networking, she has brought together Africans and friends of Africa across the globe to support SUFA. Currently studying for a Diploma in Professional Freelance Journalism, Elsie lives in London with her daughter, Olivia-Jane.
Loic Mayouya: IT Manager (Volunteer)
Loic is a computer graduade with Bsc (Hons) from the University of
wales. He is currently completing an MSc in e-Technology for business
at Sunderland University. Born in the Republic of Congo, Loic lived
in several parts of Africa throughout his childhood, and he hopes that
after finishing up his studies here in the UK, he'll be able to give
back somehow to the continent.

Communications: goodthinking partnership
goodthinking is a freelance partnership of three highly qualified and
skilled individuals: writer Alison Hood, designer Corinne Welch and web
developer Dave Gillespie. They specialise in cost-effective communications
projects for the voluntary and public sectors. They are in charge of all
SUFA's communication and promotional work: designing our logo, writing and
producing all our leaflets, newsletters and website, print advice, and more.

Our Special advisors
Dr Mark Booth
Mark's interest in, and involvement with, Africa dates back to 1990 when he started a PhD in parasite epidemiology at Imperial College, London. He is now Associate Director of the Wolfson Research Institute at Durham University. He maintains a strong interest in estimating the impact of infectious diseases on populations living in developing countries, particularly East Africa, with a view to rational control of both infection and disease. His multi-disciplinary approach involves examining different pathways to disease and how they interact. In 2005, Mark initiated the Matangini Project to bring safe water to rural primary schools in Kenya, where he had been working on water-borne diseases such as malaria and schistosomiasis. In 2006, Mark and SUFA joined forces to develop and expand the Water for Schools Project.
Begay Jabang
A qualified accountant and former Chair of Stand Up for Africa, Bejay currently works with Shelter as Business Performance and Risk Manager. She is also Treasurer of World Mission Agency aka Winners Chapel and a Director of Rainbow Global Consulting Ltd. Begay previously worked with Oxfam GB for over six years, and before that was an external auditor with Panel Kerr Forster (Gambia & Ghana), Deloitte & Touche (Gambia), and Ernest & Young and KPMG (UK). Passionate about people maximising their potential and living a life of impact, Begay is studying to become a life/business coach.
Michael Norton
Michael is the founder of Directory of Social Change, the UK's leading provider of information and training on all aspects of running a NGO. He is author of many books on fundraising, including Getting Started in Fundraising, Writing Better Fundraising Applications, The WorldWide Fundraisers Handbook (for the Resource Alliance), and How to be a Fundraising Champion (for young people). He is director of Centre for Innovation in Voluntary Action, developing ways of engaging young people as active citizens and promoting new ideas for international development.
