Why SUFA works in Nigeria

Our Project

Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice provides the first children's hospice and respite care facility in Nigeria. The facility opened in October 2003, in response to a steadily increasing number of sick children who have been abandoned or orphaned. The hospice provides respite support, palliative care (comfort and pain management) and end-of-life care for children with life-threatening and terminal illnesses.

With your support, we hope to raise enough money to pay for a 15-seater, wheelchair friendly minibus to donate to the Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice.

Why SUFA works in Nigeria

One in five children dies before their fifth birthday.
By 2010, the country will have an estimated 8.2 million orphans.
36% of children under the age of 5 are underweight.
43% of children under the age of 5 have stunted growth.
